The summer heat hasn’t even arrived fully yet, but a lot of us are already dealing with the hot temperatures around the house. There are several ways to keep the house cool, but keep some money in your pocket at the same time. Here are some tips we thought we’d share and pass along:
.) Make sure you use shades, or blinds, to keep your windows covered so the direct sun doesn’t come in. You can also use window tint to help with the heat trying to push through the glass.
.) Make sure windows and doors are shut during the hottest part of the day. Keep ceiling fans on to help circulate the air around the house.
.) Be sure to ventilate the house and make sure the air is bumped down during the evening hours when it is cooler outside. If you keep the interior doors open throughout the house air will flow a lot easier, too.
.) Use ceiling fans. The typical person’s comfort range for light clothing in the summer is between 72 degrees and 78 degrees. Creating a breeze in your home with a ceiling fan can help to provide much greater air flow throughout.
.) Plant trees around your house. This will help provide shade around the home, but also around the windows, which in turn will allow less direct sunlight to enter the house.
